Dr.
Hughes is a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology,
a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a fellow of
the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and she was elected
to AOA, the academic honor society for medical schools.
She is an active member of the American Society and Refractive
Surgery, the San Antonio Society of Ophthalmology, the Texas
Ophthalmologic Society, the Bexar County Medical Society,
and the Texas Medical Association. She is listed in best
Doctors in America as well as Best Ophthalmologists in America.
She is currently Chief of Service, Department of Ophthalmology
for the Baptist Health Care System. |

Hughes is very proud of her family. Her husband Dr. Philip
Hughes is a dermatologist. They have three children. Audry
is still at home and a student at Saint Mary’s Hall.
Their oldest daughter Elizabeth is a dermatologist. She is
married to Bill Tichy and they have one son, Luke. Their son
Alexander is an orthopedic surgery resident at UCLA in Los
Angeles. Compared to other surgical fields in medicine, ophthalmology
has reasonably good hours, which allows a physician to balance
a career with a full family life. |
